Falls Festival Accommodation

The Falls Festival is a music festival held over the New Year's period every year in Marion Bay, Tasmania and Lorne, Victoria. The three day event beings on December 29 each year with most of the headline acts performing on the 30th and 31st. The festival is held simultaneously at both venues with a group of performers playing at Marion Bay on December 30 and then moving to Lorne on December 31 and vice versa.

1993 saw the launch of the festival in Lorne, then known as Rock Above The Falls. What began as a relatively small one day concert has evolved over the years with it being extended to two days in 1995, the name being changed in 1996 to The Falls Festival and the addition of Marion Bay as a simultaneous event in 2003.

Most of the acts that play at the Falls Festival are generally from the blues and roots genre, but there are also a large number of artists from other genres as well. In previous years some of the more well known acts that have performed at the Falls Festival include Kings of Leon, Groove Armada, Wolfmother, The Dandy Warhols, Pete Murray, Missy Higgins, Black Eyed Peas and Silverchair. Like many similar events as well as showcasing some major international and Australian acts this festival also promotes local artists.

Falls Festival 2008

29 December 2008 - 1 January 2009

The Falls Festival 2008 would have been a great way to celebrate the New Year, listening to great music from a huge lineup of international and Australian acts. Getting together with a group of friends and heading for Victoria or Tasmania to experience this great alternative to the extremely crowded New Year celebrations in the major cities.

If you prefered to just get away from it all for a couple of days some of the great acts that you would have had to entertain you are Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, Santogold, Eli 'Paperboy' Reed, Sharon Jones & The Dap-King, The Cat Empire and The Kooks. The Falls Festival also provided the Falls Arts Village, The APRA People's Stage and films to complete the experience.

The Lorne, Victoria Falls Festival is held on Erskine Falls Road and the Marion Bay, Tasmania Falls Festival is held on Marchwiel Road.
